This is a scary thought, our information stolen and all of our hard work, completely gone.
That’s what can happen when Phishing occurs
For those that do not know, Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.
According to an article posted by BGR, you could receive an email that “displays a graphic that looks identical to the graphic Google uses to indicate a PDF or Word document attachment, but it embeds the image in the email body itself. When the user clicks on it, he or she is redirected to a page that looks just like the normal Google login screen.”
Pretty difficult to tell the difference.
This is where the bait and switch lies; the page presented is not authentic nor is it hosted within Google Servers. A regular user will simply assume “I need to re-enter my password since I timed out”, a normal day to day process for some.
Our expertise and knowledge recommends avoiding the use of passwords entirely for G Suite by enabling SAML authentication with Okta SSO. SAML authentication is best thought of as a voucher that uses other factors to authenticate your account. With Okta and G Suite, you can enable single sign on (SSO) for your organization, removing the liability of having a password exposed or revealed during the sign-in process. By integrating the two environments, you can leverage backend communications to authenticate against Okta and not the app or service itself.
One of Iron Cove Solutions’ expert engineers says, “Phishing attempts are not new to the IT world, nor will they ever end as it relies on the most common factor across all organizations: untrained users. With Okta as your SSO solution, your organization can control the where, when, and how to sign-in to web based services giving you peace of mind and protection of internal resources.”
