Within the following article, we will be going over a very basic task that all Administrators should know how to do; and that is creating a New User. Within this article, we will be covering how to create a Single User.
To begin, you will want to open up a new web browser and navigate to portal.microsoftonline.com. You’ll need to sign in using either a Global Administrator Account or a User Management Administrator account.
Once you have signed in, you will want to click on Users and Groups, located at the left hand side of your screen.
From the User and Groups page, you’ll need to click Add, so that you can add an additional User to your Office 365 Tenant.
Once you have clicked on Add, you will be brought to the Details page. Here you will be able to add the New Users Information. There are only 3 items that are require for any user within Office 365. Those are
- Display Name
- User Name
- Location (Second Page, within Settings)
Within the Details page, you are ask to give basic information about the User you are creating – First Name, Last Name, Display Name, and Username. Additionally, you can click on Additional Details to see more fields that can be populated.
Once you have finished entering the Users details, click on Next – to enter the Users Settings. Within the User Settings page, you will see two fields which you can alter, Assign Role and Set User Location. To learn more about Administrator Roles, click here. Set the User Location and hit enter to enter the Licensing page.
If you currently have Multiple Licenses within your Office 365 tenant you will see them listed here. Select the License you wish the User to have and click next.
You will be asked to enter an email to send the results to – by default your email address will appear within this box. Click next and you will see the results for your newly created user.
